Mamak Vegan Kitchen was the most amazing experience. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere and ambience was incredible. It was a very calming feeling. We were approached by our server Indira who was outstanding in her customer service. She explained all of the food options as well as giving us her opinion on some of the best dishes to try given it was our first visit here. She also made recommendations based on the type of dishes we enjoyed most. She also mentioned that the entire restaurant makes their dishes without any onion or garlic which was an added bonus! Due to dietary religious restrictions we avoid alliums when possible and this made the experience even more worth the visit. We ordered the peanut miso soup as a starter, we also ordered the vegan calamari, black pepper chicken and lemak curry! The flavours were so comforting and gave a very homely feel. I would rate this restaurant a 1000/10. We have a huge Jain community in Hoover Alabama and I know a restaurant like this would thrive here! Thank you to the chef, Indira and the entire team for the most pleasant experience, I know we will be coming back again.

What an unforgettable dining experience at Mamak Vegan Kitchen. This wasn’t just the best vegan restaurant we’ve been to—it may honestly be one of the best restaurants we’ve ever experienced, period. Every single dish was exceptional. The vegan calamari was unbelievably good, the peanut soup was rich and comforting, the lemak curry was packed with deep, authentic flavor, and the black pepper chicken was absolutely outstanding. It’s rare to find a restaurant where every dish exceeds expectations, but Mamak did exactly that. What made the experience even more special was our server, Indira. She was warm, incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely passionate about the food, and took obvious pride in what she was serving. She didn’t just take our order—she guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, answered every question, and made us feel like she truly wanted us to have an amazing experience. Hospitality like that is hard to find and deserves to be recognized. As people who prefer food prepared without onion and garlic, discovering that Mamak cooks everything that way made this place even more remarkable for us. I have never had Malaysian food before and I was so happily surprised with everything! First, I had the lychee soda which was absolutely everything. That thing was so delicious. Then I had the Roti Naan which was maybe one of the most delicious things I've ever had--- the naan was such a beautiful texture and the curry was light and aromatic and wonderful. I think my favorite from the main dishes was the okra. I don't know what magic they put in that but it made the world feel so wondrous again. I HIGHLY recommend going here! Everyone was kind and welcoming and it was such a special dining experience!

I ordered from Mamak Vegan Kitchen so I do not know about service or atmosphere. This was the best meal I have had in a long time. I've been a vegetarian for 44 years and I don't like fake meat. I like good cooking of unprocessed ingredients. At any rate. Wow. Best curry potato I have ever eaten. Best fried rice. Best roti. I can go on. The way they let you choose to cook with less oil or sugar or no MSG. I ended up getting food similar to what I cook at home in terms of health, but by a master chef. This food is so good. So good.

This was my first time trying a vegan restaurant, and it came at the request of a friend of my daughter. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the vibe—bright, welcoming, and very comfortable seating. Since I had never experienced vegan cuisine before, I relied on recommendations from my daughter and her friend. I ordered a peanut-based soup with bean sprouts, along with veggie spring rolls. My daughter chose a spicy rice dish with vegan chicken. I had the chance to sample all of the dishes, and I was pleasantly surprised—they were absolutely excellent. The service was also very good. The woman who took our order was warm and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I had a great first experience at a vegan restaurant and would definitely be open to trying it again.
